- What is ducted vacuum system?

- How many inlet points do I need?
It depends on the layout of the house. By the rule of thumb, 1 point will cover approximately 80 square meters, so for instance a 320 square meter house will need 4 inlet points. If the house has an open plan layout, it will probably only need 3 points, or alternatively if the house has more partitions, it will need 5 points.

- Which unit (model) is suitable for my house?
To choose which unit that will be suitable for a particular size house, you have to measure approx. distance from the power unit location (usually in the garage) to the furthest inlet in the house. We call this distance MPR (maximum pipe run). The longer this distance the bigger vacuum motor is required. Refer to our product specifications for further details.

- Can I install ducted vacuum system on an existing home?
Yes you can, but choosing locations where to install inlet points is not as freely as in a new home, and the inlets may have to be installed on the floor instead of on the wall.

- Can I buy the kit and install it myself?
Yes you can. We provide installation kit manual to help you install the system correctly.

- What comes with the power unit?
Each power unit comes with 9 meter hose, hose cuff, tool set (combination floor tool, dusting brush, upholtery tool, crevice tool, telescopic wand, curved wand and hose hanger bracket), 2 filter bags, installation instructions, pipe cap, screws, wall bracket, and power cable. You also have the option to just buy the power unit without these hose & tool set.

- Is AstroVac unit bag or bagless unit?
All AstroVac units use filter bags to maintain high suction level (at all time until the bag is full), easy and clean dust removal, and prolong vacuum motor life.

- At what stage do you install ducted vacuum system in a new house?
At frame stage before the wall is plastered.

- Can the power unit be installed on outside wall?
Yes it can be installed outdoor, but it will need a canopy (extra).

- What is the benefit of ducted vacuum systems as opposed to the portables?
The most obvious benefit is cleaner indoor air quality as dust is removed from the floor level into pipework then finally to the dust colection unit located in the garage or outside the house. Portable vacuum cleaners on the other hand recycle finer dust particles back into the room. Ducted vacuum systems also have much larger dust collectors (hence less bag changes), quicker vacuuming due to lighter hose (no unit to be dragged along), safer and usually more powerful than the portables.
